About This Attraction
Riding the Langkawi cable car is scary. But you must try it at least once.
Using the Swiss expertise, this Langkawi cable car will take you on a journey of 1.7 miles before stopping at Central Station.
For many, the steep ride will be a memorable, if not frightening one — because the floor is made of glass, and the cable is so long, it does not seem to end.
Once you get to the middle station, you can get off to the platform to see the sights of Langkawi Island.
But this is not the end of the ride. The highlight is the walk on the suspension bridge Langkawi.
The bridge on the Mount of Mat Chinchang is impressive. Not only because it is one of the world’s longest arched bridge, but because it is held by only a single metal pole.
Here, you may snap some pictures or enjoy the view of Langkawi and some islands in Thailand.
If you wish to have some romantic views, wait until the evening. You could watch the sunset from the top of the mountains while drinking some hot coffee in the cafe.
The last gondola goes down at 8pm.
Want more adventure? From the middle station, you could also walk up to the top via walking trails instead of riding the gondola.
The walk takes 30 minutes.
- The cable car will not stop when taking passengers. Be alert.
- The queue to ride the cable car can be very long if you happen to stumble upon groups of school children. If you in Langkawi during the school holidays (March and end of year), be here early to beat the long queue.
- If you prefer water than mountains, instead if cable car, try sunset cruises or island hopping Langkawi tours here.
