Built in 1916, this local headman’s house is an excellent example of the sensibility of Malay architecture. The elevated house helps save the occupants from floods and wild animals, the anjung or porch serves as a guest receiving area while the ample windows help the occupants escape the heat of the tropics.
You can learn more about the Malay architecture by joining the Rumah Penghulu Tour at the Heritage Center from Mondays to Saturdays at 11am and 3pm.
The 45 minutes tour costs RM10.
The Heritage Center is opened from 9am to 5pm and it is closed on Sundays and public holidays.
